Great Indoor Folk Festival ~ Feb 12, 2012
The 4th Annual Great Indoor Folk Festival takes place this Sunday, February 12 in Building 50 at the Grand Traverse Commons. The festival runs from noon to 5:30, and it is family-friendly and free, though you're encouraged to donate through "busker buckets." There will be 6 different stages with over 50 musicians on seven different stages. Empire Winterfest (Feb 11), ÊTraverse City Winter Microbrew Festival (Feb 11), Glen Arbor Winterfest (Feb 18), ÊSleeping Bear Snowshoe Hikes (Every Saturday). Check the Leelanau Calendar. Don Harrison of Up North Memories (eBay store) has piles and piles of cool old postcards from Leelanau, Benzie and Northern Michigan.
I don't know when this photo of the fish tug Helen S in Fishtown was taken, but I do know that it was before the current version of the breakwall. As a bonus, lots of Don's photos (including this one) are wallpaper sized!

Northern Michigan is my favorite place to visit (Manitou Islands) in the world. I have been many places and never felt at such peace as I did when we took our boat and anchored out for 3 days and toured the island.
