Northport May Become K-8 School

Filed under: Leelanau, northport, schools — Andrew McFarlane @ 9:39 am

The Enterprise reports that an idea to close Northport High School in three years and send all 9th through 12th grade students to Leland or Suttons Bay for courses was presented at last week’s meeting of the county collaboration steering committee.  The school district’s largest class of 21 students will graduate next spring. The entire high school student body numbers 57 for an average class size of just over 14.
