"LPVA Second Fridays" – Dog Days of Summer

Many times when Leelanau residents think of wine tours and our fabulous wineries, they think of tourists and tourism.  The Leelanau Peninsula Vintners Association has planned special events in hopes to draw more locals to the tasting rooms, as well as the tourists.  Since April, they have hosted Second Fridays, on the 2nd Friday of each month.  These Fridays each have a special theme and food pairings.  More importantly for those who live and work in the area, the participating wineries stay open until 8:00 PM, which gives people an opportunity to enjoy a tasting or two after work.

This Friday, August 14, the LPVA hosts Dog Days of Summer.  This Second Friday's Event encourages wine lovers and their four legged companions to visit the wineries on the Leelanau Peninsula after working hours. Black Star Farms is donating 5% of the total sales from 5 -8 pm will be donated to the Cherryland Humane Society.

Next month on September 11, the Second Friday's theme is Pirates of the Peninsula: Celebrate the Maritime Heritage Alliance's Inaugural Michigan Schooner Festival and hunt for treasure all day long on the Leelanau Peninsula.

Also if you haven't purchased your tickets for the first ever Traverse City Wine and Art Festival, you should do so now.  Or if you are interested in attending this event for free, the LPVA is still looking for volunteers.  Please contact Laura at laura@leelanau.com or 231.256.2829 for details.
