News from the Week
The week's news was headlined by the most extreme January Thaw we've seen for a long time that featured THREE record high temperature readings and a record rainfall day thrown in as well. Other stories included guided Saturday snowshoeing in the Sleeping Bear Dunes (the park is also amazing for cross country skiing and snowshoeing of the unguided variety), a look at Leelanau's snowmobile trail from Empire to Maple City, the new "Why Leelanau?" blog from the Conservancy (send them your reason!) and the Friends of Fine Arts for Suttons Bay Schools' Concert Series featuring Peter Ostroushko, Greensky Bluegrass & Patchouli. Ostroushko is one of the finest mandolin players in the world!
