Empire Asparagus Festival - Third Weekend in May
he 5th Annual Empire Asparagus Festival will be held this weekend (May 16-18, 2008) and features a slew of asparagus-themed events including the premier of Asparagus: The Movie, a poetry reading/reception, fun run (or walk), Asparagus Eats (soup & more), Asparagus recipe contest, a 3 PM Asparagus Parade, local wine tasting and much more. read more »

Photo: A Crescent Cast by Chris Arace. Chris writes: Ruins of the Crescent dock on N. Manitou Island. This dock was for the old logging town of Crescent. In the Early 1900's it stretched 600 feet into Lake Michigan. We have a post about the ghost town of Crescent City on North Manitou Island (with another photo from Chris!)
