Glen Lake may become 2nd out of formula district in county

Filed under: Leelanau, glen lake, government, schools — Andrew McFarlane @ 11:53 am

The Leelanau Enterprise reports that Glen Lake School district may join Northport in relying only on non-homestead property tax revenue to fund its $6.7 million annual budget. The change is mainly due to the preponderance of second homes and parkland and could reduce the district’s 2006-07 anticipated deficit from $184,000 to $75,000 or $80,000.

Read G-L may go 'out of formula' in the Enterprise for an explanation of this complicated issue. Also see Funding change could help relieve Glen Lake budget in the Traverse City Record-Eagle.
