County seeking bids for government parcel in Leland

The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that bids are due by January 31 for the purchase of the county government site in Leland. When county offices move in 2008 to the new governmental center under construction in Suttons Bay Township, the 2.5 acre site in the village of Leland will become available.Old Jail & County Property in Leland The county has been working with residents and local officials and says that the community wishes the parcel to be a residential development with a focus on affordable housing. Most of the site is zoned residential with the land on the Leland River along Chandler St (former Leelanau Enterprise offices) zoned commercial.

So far, no bids have been received but about 6 packages have been requested.
