Conservancy Seeks to Preserve Cedar Lake Farmstead

Filed under: Leelanau, farms, preservation — Andrew McFarlane @ 7:02 am

The TC Record-Eagle reports that with a June 1 deadline looming, the Leelanau Conservancy has raised less than 10% of an estimated $2 million required for  preservation of the  145-acre DeYoung family farmstead on  Cedar Lake in Elmwood Township. Plans call for preserving it as a natural area open to the public for hiking, fishing, cross-country skiing and wildlife observation.

The property stretches across Cherry Bend Road and features nearly a mile of undeveloped Cedar Lake shoreline, clear streams and hilltop views of Grand Traverse Bay.
