MAY

May 2, 5 pm to 9 pm - Art Walk: Enjoy a self guided tour of galleries and exhibits in Downtown Traverse City featuring local art and wine. Visit each pariticipating location, receive a stamp and enter to win a $500 Downtown Shopping Spree. Walking guides will be available at each participating location and the Downtown Office.

May 3 - Sportsmens' Smelt Dinner: Sportsman Club fund raiser. Northport. (231) 386-5375

May 3 & 4 - Spring Sip & Savor: The Annual Spring wine trail event celebrating new buds and new releases. Suttons Bay Township & Bingham Township.

May 16 - 18 - Empire Asparagus Festival

May 17 - 18, 12 pm to 5 pm - Blossom Days: A Celebration of Blossoms, Beauty and Bounty on Old Mission Peninsula. Old Mission winemakers invite you to their tasting rooms to give you a sample of unreleased wines! Barrel and Reserve wines are showcased in addition to each winery’s standard tasting list. The $15 ticket price includes a souvenir glass and tasting at all five Old Mission Wineries. Enjoy the beauty of the blossoms and a weekend on Old Mission Peninsula!

June 7 - Leland Food and Wine Festival: Featuring local wineries and food vendors. Music in the park. Admission includes wine glass and two tickets for wine tasting. No dogs allowed. Sorry!

June 17 & 24, 9 am to 1 pm - Glen Arbor Farmers Market: Behind the Glen Arbor Township Hall.

June 20, 6 pm to 9 pm - Divas Uncorked!: Visit the Old Mission Wine Trail on this evening devoted to women and wine. Each winery will offer a wine selection expertly paired with an appetizer prepared by an Old Mission Peninsula restaurant chef. Grab your girl friends to sip, savor and enjoy this fun 'Girls Night Out' event! Tickets include a souvenir glass. Children’s hour begins at 8:30 p.m. followed by the adults at 10:00 p.m. The public is welcome and $1 donations are accepted. Only hard rain stops the beach bards! Leelanau School Fire Circle.

July 15, 7:05 pm - Frontier League Home Run Derby: The Home-Run Derby and Skills Competition sponsored by Cherryland Electric Cooperative will begin at 7:05 PM Tuesday evening with the gates opening at 5:30 to allow fans to greet & meet the All-Stars and get their autographs. Fans will also be able to enter a contest to be paired with one of the All-Star participants of the Home-Run Derby. A win for the All-Star will mean a prize win for the matched fan.

July 16, 7:05 pm - Frontier League All-Star Game: The 2008 Frontier League All-Star Game will be held the 16th and will feature a no holds barred competition between the East All-Stars (Traverse City, Kalamazoo, Washington, Florence, Chillicothe and the Midwest Sliders) and the West All-Stars (River City, Southern Illinois, Gateway, Evansville, Windy City and Rockford). The game will begin at 7:05 PM. Fans will be treated to fireworks after the competition sponsored by Peninsula Pyrotechnics and the Traverse City Beach Bums.

July 16, 10 am to 4 pm - Glen Lake Woman's Club Art Fair: Held at the Glen Arbor Township Hall.

Feb. 13 - 15 - Empire Winterfest: Winter brings arctic-like ice formations on the shoreline and plenty of time to stand in the middle of Front Street, talking with friends, or go for a cross-country ski on one of the many area trails. Don't miss the Empire Winter Fest: your chance to jump in a hole cut in the ice of South Bar Lake!

Feb. 14 - Glen Arbor Winterfest: Perch Fishing Contest, 7 am to 1 pm. Chili Cookoff, Boone Docks Deck, 12 noon until it is all gone!
