Greetings! From Northern Michigan Artist Richard Allen.
Richard Allen has worked in many media over 35 years as a self-employed artist. Since 2000 he has been developing something new and unique. The idea got started a few years ago when he began building wooden kayaks. Impressed with the beauty, strength and light weight of these boats, he began exploring a more artistic expression using the same materials and techniques.
What has evolved is illuminated art. Combining wood, acrylic, fabric & paint with fiberglass/epoxy welds, he is now creating one of a kind chandeliers, lamps, lighted wall pieces and furniture. These pieces are built to last for many generations.
Richard lives and works in northern Michigan, where he also enjoys operating a small kayak guiding business, making musical instruments, and organic farming.
