The 2003 Cherryland All-Conference Girl's Basketball Team features Alisha Glass (Leland) and Syrenna Rexroat & Hannah Wigton (Lake Leelanau St. Mary's). Glass and Rexroat were also named to the all area Class D team. More at Leelanau Sports.
Big Present for Conservancy [12.12.03]
The Leelanau Enterprise reports that the Leelanau Conservancy received a matching grant of $723,800 (its largest ever) through Michigan's Clean Michigan Initiative, Clean Water Fund. The money will be used to permanently protect wetlands and groundwater recharge areas in the Lake Leelanau watershed. The Conservancy still must raise 25-50% in local matching funds. Read the story.
Glen Lake Schools Contract [12.15.03]
This week's Leelanau Enterprise reports that the Glen Lake Board of Education voted unanimously to approve a three year pact with teachers. The contract also sets a cap on insurance increases which the district will cover. Read the story.
