Crystal River Preservation! [11.18.04]
The 2005 U.S. Department of Interior budget includes $2 million for the purchase of Crystal River frontage by the National Park Service. Various agreements between the National Park Service, Leelanau Conservancy and The Homestead will ultimately transfer 104 acres and 6,300 feet of frontage along the Crystal River owned by The Homestead to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Visit the Leelanau Conservancy web site for details including a map of the purchase and also read a story in the Enterprise and in the Record-Eagle.

Girls Basketball Districts [11.19.04]
In Class D action Tuesday night at Northport, Lake Leelanau St. Mary defeated Northport 61-33 while Leland topped Traverse City Christian 43-24. The Eagles (who have beaten Leland both games this year) face the Comets at 7 PM tonight (Friday, Nov 19) at Northport. In Class C at Glen Lake, the Lakers fell 55-52 in a tough game to Kingsley while Suttons Bay rolled over Forest Area 75-35. The Lady Norsemen face the Stags tonight (Friday, Nov 19) at Glen Lake at 7 PM. More on the Leelanau Sports Page.

Suttons Bay in State Championships! [11.22.04]
The Suttons Bay Norsemen football team advanced to the Division 6 state football championship game for the first time ever with a 22-14 victory over Reese in Saturday's semifinal game. The Norsemen (now 12-1) will play Constantine (also 12-1) in the title game this Friday (Nov 26) at the Pontiac Silverdome at 5 PM. Traverse City Record-Eagle story.

In Class D action Friday night at Northport, Leland defeated Lake Leelanau St. Mary 36-26. The Lady Comets meet Bay City All Saints tonight (Monday, Nov 22) at 6 PM in Mancelona. In Class C action, Suttons Bay defeated Kingsley 44-40. The Lady Norsemen face McBain at Boyne City tonight at 6 PM. More on the Leelanau Sports Page.
