Toast to the Season [11.15.01]
The Leelanau Peninsula Vintners invite you to their "Toast to the Season" event this Saturday & Sunday (Nov. 17 & 18) from Noon - 5 PM. The event features a food & wine pairing at each of 10 wineries and you get a grape vine wreath and ornaments from each winery. Tickets are $25/person, $40/couple and $5 for designated drivers! Weekend Meteor Shower [11.16.01]
If we have clear skies this Saturday night, skywatchers could be in for a treat as the Leonid meteor shower is expected to be especially intense this year. The peak is early Sunday morning (hundreds per hour!) but folks are already seeing them. Click for links and discussion.
Report: The skies were clear from 4-6:30 am and we sighted hundreds of meteors!
Girls Basketball Results [11.19.01]
In Cherryland Conference district action Friday night, Traverse City Christian (19-0) topped Leland in an overtime thriller 43-41. In Class C action, Glen Lake (21-1) defeated Mesick 76-55. Liz Shimek scored 32 for the Lakers and became the first Michigan girls basketball player with 2,000 points and 1,500 rebounds. Record-Eagle stories: Glen Lake & Leland.
Special Showing of Forbidden Planet [11.20.01]
The Leelanau Historical Museum will be showing the classic science fiction film Forbidden Planet at the Bay Theatre in Suttons Bay this Saturday and Sunday at noon. You can learn more about the film and get a 2 for 1 coupon at the Museum web site.
