Hunting Permits for North Manitou [Oct 13]
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore has permits available for muzzleloader season on North Manitou Island. The first firearm season is Oct 23-30 and the second firearm season Oct. 30 to Nov. 1. Lakefront Owners to be Billed for Dam Repair [Oct 14]
The Leelanau Enterprise reports that bills will be mailed to Lake Leelanau waterfront property owners on Nov. 1 to cover 50% of the rehabilitation of the Leland Dam which helps control water levels in Lake Leelanau. The County will pay for the other half of the estimated $930,000 project.

Empire Haunted Hayrides! [Oct 17]

TNT Stays, Work Crews May Be Scaled Back [Oct 19]
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that to fund Leelanau County's participation in the TNT regional anti-drug task force, Sheriff Mike Oltersdorf is considering decreasing the department's popular community work program.
