Effort to Protect Lake Leelanau Watershed [09.30.04] The Leelanau Conservancy has launched a "Lake Leelanau Watershed Initiative", an all-out effort to protect the long-term health of the Lake. The effort is a partnership between the Conservancy, the Lake Association, the Leelanau Conservation District and a committee of business owners such as Fountain Point resort and citizens concerned about the lakes future. Leelanau Student Count Drops [10.01.04] The Leelanau Enterprise reports that the county-wide student count dropped 4.4% this year (2,520) compared to last year's count of 2,637. Read the story. Bayside Travellers Empire Dance [10.04.04] This Saturday (Oct 9) at the Empire Town Hall, the Bayside Travellers Country Dance Society will hold a Jamboree with Chris Williams as facilitator (4:30-6:30 PM) followed by a dance at 7 PM. Beach Bums Baseball The Traverse City Record-Eagle had a story last week reporting that the 2nd time was the charm for the Wuerfel's 4,500-seat baseball stadium, this time at Chum's Village.
