Classic Movies on Thursday Nights in Northport [Sep 15, 2005]
Every Thursday night the Northport Community Arts Center presents "The Flix", free showings of great classic movies. Tonight (Sep 15) is the rousing adaptation of the Broadway play Fiddler on the Roof. The NCAC features a big screen, great sound and though donations are accepted, these shows are free and family friendly! NCAC web site.

Leland's Fishtown Up For Sale [Sep 16, 2005]
The Leelanau Enterprise reports that after working with a non-profit Fishtown Preservation Society for nearly a year, the Carlson family of Leland is putting four lots in Fishtown up for sale on the open market for $3.5 million. Read For sale: Fishtown.

2005 Tour de Leelanau Report & Photos
Traverse City photojournalist Douglas Tesner reports that over 164 men and 30 women took part in the 2005 Tour de Leelanau and that Nick Reistad, a 22-year-old from Wisconsin (Advantage Benefit Team) won the men's event and 26-year-old Grand Rapids resident McKenzie Woodring (also riding for Advantage) took the women's event. Wreck of the W.H. Gilcher [Sep 20, 2005]

2006 County Budget to Feature Cuts, Fee Increases [Sep 21, 2005]
The Leelanau Enterprise reports that to reduce expenditures, county commissioners will likely eliminate the post of Animal Control officer, reduce one position in the county Equalization Department, and cut on call pay for Family Court employees. Commissioners also plan to impose fees on anyone who is issued a new address and charge local townships for labor performed by jail inmates. Read County poised for cuts.
