Leland Heritage Celebration [09.09.04] Next Saturday (Sep 18) the village of Leland will host a Heritage Celebration. The day features antique wooden boats on the Leland River, an "antique" art show in the Old Art Building, the Madeline Schooner in the Marina, tours of the Janice Sue fishing tug, a historical cruise offered by Manitou Island Transit, an exhibit by Inland Seas of Suttons Bay, as well as special fish related food and Leelanau wines. Elmwood Township Waterpark Plans [09.10.04] The Leelanau Enterprise reports that plans have been submitted for review to the Elmwood Township Planning Commission for a waterpark & condo development. Plans for the Wilderness Glacier Bay Lodge include a down hill toboggan and tube run, an outdoor pool that would double as an ice-skating rink in winter, a nine-hole links-style golf course, 592 hotel/condominium units and 69 cabin/condo units. Veronica Valley Golf Course Park Update [09.13.04] The Leelanau Enterprise reports that the county Parks and Recreation Commission will ask County Commissioners for permission to apply for a grant to purchase Veronica Valley golf course through the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund. Father Fred Foundation Benefit [09.14.04] Tomorrow night (Wednesday, Sep 15) the Celtic rock group The Young Dubliners will appear with Song of the Lakes and BluFrog at Streeters in Traverse City to benefit the Father Fred Foundation. The show starts at 6 PM and for those of you who haven't seen the Dubliners, they are fantastic!
