Leelanau Vintner's Harvest Stompede [September 8, 2005]
The annual Harvest Stompede is held next Saturday & Sunday (Sep 17 & 18) and a walk or run through the vineyards (the 7-mile Harvest Stompede Trail is only open for this event and is beautiful), tasting ticket good at 12 wineries and gourmet pasta appetizers. Leelanau & Traverse City Katrina Relief Efforts [September 9, 2005]
There's a great article about the efforts of area volunteers by the Free Press's Susan Ager: Have truck, will send help. The Leelanau Enterprise also details efforts in Relief donations are pouring in and the Record-Eagle reports on efforts in Northern Michigan and the state as a whole.

Leland Heritage Celebration [September 12, 2005]
The annual Leland Heritage Celebration takes place this Saturday (Sep 17) and features a host of activities including an exhibit on Maro, The Magician at the Old Art Building, the Wood Boats on the Wall classic boat show at the Museum and displays and historical demonstrations in Fishtown. Wine Bill Might Be Gutted By Senate [September 13, 2005]
The Leelanau Enterprise reports that the wine bill that barreled through the state House last week may get corked in the state Senate, according to Sen. Michelle McManus. McManus said that she has been given the go-ahead by Senate majority leader Ken Sikkema to eliminate key elements of the bill that, should they be enacted, would severely hamper Leelanau County's youthful winery industry (as well as the wine industry in Michigan as a whole).
