Agricultural Disaster [08.23.01]
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that Federal Agriculture Department officials are requesting that Antrim, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Grand Traverse and Otsego counties be designated as disaster areas due to this summer's drought and its effect on farming. If the designation is approved, farmers could receive low cost loans. Complete story in the Record-Eagle.
Coastal Partnership [08.24.01]
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that representatives of various units of government in the area took a cruise on the schooner Inland Seas as part of the Building A Coastal Partnership initiative. North Manitou Fieldtrip [08.29.01]
The Leelanau Historical Society will host its annual fieldtrip to North Manitou Island on Sunday, September 9, 2001 from 8 AM - 6 PM. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the island on their own or take one of several guided tours.
