Glen Lake / Suttons Bay to Share Superintendent [July 14, 2005]
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that Tom Harwood will serve as Superintendent for both Glen Lake & Suttons Bay for the upcoming year. Under the one-year cooperative agreement, the schools will also share a finance director. Read Glen Lake, Suttons Bay: Superintendent will split time for year. Suttons Bay MusicFest [July 15, 2005]
The Suttons Bay Jazzfest wil not be held this year (but will return in 2006). In place of the Jazzfest, the Suttons Bay Chamber has announced the Suttons Bay MusicFest, which will be held next Saturday (July 23) from noon to 9 PM at the Suttons Bay Marina. The event will feature a great lineup of musicians, dance floor, food, beer & wine. Contact the Silvertree Deli 231-271-2271 for more info or visit the Suttons Bay Area Chamber.

Suttons Bay: Record-Eagle School of the Year [July 18, 2005]
The Traverse City Record-Eagle has named Suttons Bay as its Northern Michigan (Sports?) School of the Year. Over the last five years, all 18 varsity teams - nine girls, nine boys - have won titles. This year the school won 7 conference championships and had three teams finish as state runner-up. Read BEST OF THE BEST: Suttons Bay is school of the year.

Growing Tomatoes ... and a Business [July 19, 2005]
The Traverse City Record-Eagle has a profile of TLC Tomatoes, a Leelanau hydroponic farm that produces 35,000 pounds of tomatoes, 35,000 heads of Bibb lettuce and other crops including cucumbers, basil and flowers. Read A Garden Variety. There's another article on their Dinners on the Farm.

Tour de Tart this Friday [July 20, 2005]
The Tour de Tart is a leisurely, one-way bike ride for all ages on the TART and Leelanau Trails from Traverse City to Suttons Bay. The event takes place this Friday (Jul 22) and in addition to water & cookie stops, there will be a bayside meal in Suttons Bay. Complete Tour de Tart info & registration from Traverse Trails.
