Manitou Music Festival Dune Climb Concert [07.08.04] Next Sunday (Jul 18) at 7 PM the Manitou Music Festival & Glen Arbor Art Association host their annual free concert at the Dune Climb at Sleeping Bear Dunes. This year's musicians are the Avatar Brass Quintet & the Bill Lucas Jazz Quartet. The concert also features the world premier of Fanfare for the Sleeping Bear by William Lucas. New Long Term Care Facility Pledged [07.09.04] The Leelanau Enterprise reports that Tendercare (Michigan) Inc., which owns and operates two nursing homes in Traverse City has pledged to work with Munson Healthcare toward development of a new skilled nursing facility in Leelanau County. A facility (possibly in Suttons Bay) would replace the long-term care facility that is closing in Northport. Read the story. Northport Community Art Center Raffle [07.12.04] The Northport Community Art Center is holding a benefit Summer Raffle. Tickets are $20.00 each and prizes include a Western Caribbean Cruise, New York City & Toronto Theater Weekends and much more. Bill Would Cut Farm Taxes [07.13.04] The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that a bill introduced by State Representative Howard Walker would reduce the property taxes to $5/acre for farmers who contracted to keep the land in agricultural production for 20 years.
