Free Family Dune Climb Concert [Jul 7, 2005]
The Manitou Music Festival's opening concert will be held at 7 PM next Sunday (Jul 17) at the Dune Climb is Ode to Joy featuring California Guitar Trio and Song of the Lakes. Possible Leelanau Memorial Redevelopment [Jul 8, 2005]
The Leelanau Enterprise reports that Parkside Senior Services of Skokie, IL has presented a proposal for developing the Leelanau Memorial Heath Center property in Northport. Parkside's proposal was viewed favorably by the committee formed by Munson and would include senior living complex, including independent living condominiums, assisted living apartments and a dementia care facility. Solid Sweet Cherry Crop [Jul 8, 2005]
The Leelanau Enterprise reports that early estimates put the Michigan crop at 27,000 tons, compared to 24,700 tons in 2004 and 13,000 tons in 2003. Leelanau County has over 4000 acres planted in sweet cherries (about half of the tart acreage). Read ÔVery goodÕ sweet cherry crop forecast.
Empire Anchor Days [Jul 11, 2005]
Empire's annual Anchor Days celebration takes place this Saturday (Jul 16). Events include a Fun Run (8 AM), the Empire Eagles Hot Dog sale (all day), the parade (1 PM), Chicken Barbeque (2-6 PM) and a dinner & dance in the evening. For more info, visit the Empire Chamber of Commerce.
