Every Hundred Days [06.21.01]
Leelanau.com announces the start of our Every Hundred Days Project. Every 100 days we will donate an entire day of our staff's work to help a nonprofit or community organization build or enhance their web site. Our first day will be Friday, September 28, 2001 and you can learn more and submit a proposal right here.
Swim Around Leelanau [06.22.01]
The Detroit Free Press has a story about Liz Elling's upcoming swim around the county to raise awareness about water quality issues and money for the Conservancy. She begins her swim on July 1st and you can read the story in the Freep and/or visit her web page.
Odawa Basket Maker [06.25.01]
The Leelanau Historical Museum will host a presentation by Odawa basket maker Francis "Frank" Weese on Saturday, June 30, from 1 - 4 pm. During the afternoon, Mr. Weese will describe the gathering and preparation of the natural materials he uses, demonstrate his skills, and talk about the ways basket making is part of his family and Odawa tradition. Leland 4th of July [06.26.01]
There will be kids' bike decorating at 11 AM at Hancock Field followed by games for children of all ages at noon. The parade takes place at 3 PM (main street). Fireworks will be held after sunset on the Lake Michigan beach just south of the harbor. More at lelandmi.com.
