The Leelanau Enterprise reports that county commissioners were surprised to be informed by Sheriff Oltersdorf that 6 more deputies than expected will be needed to staff the new county Law Enforcement Center. Read the story.
St. Marys Baseball & Softball [06.14.04]
Lake Leelanau St. Marys baseball & softball teams both competed in state regionals this weekend. The baseball team took the opener 3-2 from Onekema and fell to Mason County Eastern 7-5. The softball team beat Bretheren 3-0 and lost a tough 2-0 game to Mason County Eastern. Congratulations on great seasons!

$1 Million for Crystal River [06.16.04]
The Leelanau Enterprise reports that the National Park Service budget includes $1 million seed money for purchase of a 104-acre parcel from The Homestead Resort for the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The value of the parcel is appraised at $7-9 million. Read the story.
