Leelanau Players Auditions [May 5, 2005]
The Leelanau Players announce auditions for their upcoming musical theater production of The Boyfriend. They will be held on Friday, May 13 at 7 pm, Saturday, May 14 at noon, and Sunday, May 15 at 2pm at the Northport Community Arts Center (NCAC) located in Northport School. For more information or if you are unavailable to audition for The Boyfriend at the scheduled times, call 231-256-9606 or visit their web site.

Frost Causes Some Cherry Damage [May 6, 2005]
The Leelanau Enterprise reports that a strong frost Wednesday night has done some damage to Leelanau's cherry buds, especially in low-lying areas. The extent of the damage isn't known yet. Read Hard frost causes some damage to cherry trees in the Enterprise.

Walleye Festival [May 9, 2005]
The Lake Leelanau Walleye Festival will be held this Saturday (May 14) in the village of Lake Leelanau. The event includes a Walleye Fishing Competition, Classic Car Show, parade, booths and refreshments.

Scholten Hired by Petoskey [May 10, 2005]
The Petoskey News-Review reports that Petoskey school board members finalized the hiring of John Scholten as their district's next superintendent. Scholten currently works as superintendent of Glen Lake Community Schools and will start work in the 3,100-student Petoskey district on July 1. Leland HS Musical "Honk!" [May 11, 2005]
This weekend (May 13-15) and next weekend (May 20-22) the Leland Public High School Drama Club presents Honk!, the musical story of Ugly, whose odd, gawky looks incite prejudice from his family and neighbors. Visit their web site for more information & show times.
