Plover, Building Restoration in Jeopardy [03.28.03]
This week's Leelanau Enterprise reports that an as yet unfunded federal mandate to convert radios to narrow band would cost the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore $700,000 and may force them to cut programs like piping plover protection and restoration of istoric structure. Enterprise story.
Fishtown Theme Park [04.01.03]
Leland's historic Fishtown will reopen today as "Fish City" after a mega-million dollar upgrade by 4/1 Amusements, according to Leland Mayor Bob Schlueter. The theme park will feature the midwest's longest waterfall slide, seventeen fudge shops and the park mascot, Charley the Chub.
