Sugar Loaf Has a New Owner [Mar 28, 2005]
Last Friday (Mar 25), Kate Wickstrom closed on the purchase of Sugar Loaf Resort. She is planning a public meeting/celebration that will also be used to to begin the formation of a council to plan the future of the Resort. You can read more about it in the Leelanau Forum.
2006 County Budget Cuts Eyed [Mar 29, 2005]
The Leelanau Enterprise reports that $474,000 in possible cuts for the 2006 budget have been identified by a special committee of the county Board of Commissioners. The list of possible cuts includes the budgets of MSU Extension, Probate and Family courts, Equalization and Planning and animal control and recycling programs. Students to Create South Fox Light Exhibit [Mar 30, 2005]
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that students from Fife Lake Elementary and Northport Public School are the newest experts on the history of the South Fox Island Lighthouse. They've teamed up with a coalition set on saving the lighthouse to establish a new exhibit at Leelanau's Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum.
