Fruit Outlook [03.21.03]
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that this winter's weather has been especially hard on fruit crops. MSU Extension agent Jim Bardenhagen said that the sweet cherry crop sustained between 50-100% bud damage and that grape buds have been damaged as well. Tart cherries are (thusfar) doing pretty well. Cedar Area Community Center Walking Club [03.24.03]
A Just-for-Fun Walking Club will meet Tuesdays at 9 am at the Cedar Tennis Courts beginning April 8. They will keep a walking log and incentive T-shirts will be awarded at 50 and 100 miles. All ages welcome. Sign up with BJ Christensen 228-3426 or by email.
Suttons Bay Mooring Dispute [03.25.03]
The Leelanau Enterprise reports that the Suttons Bay Village Council has refused to sponsor a legal boat mooring field at the south end of Suttons Bay. The Army Corps has sent a letter to boat owners who have been using the area instructing them that they may face enforcement action. Enterprise story.
