Band to Buy G.T. Resort [03.06.03]
The Leelanau Enterprise, TC Record-Eagle and Detroit Free Press are reporting that a long-rumored purchase of the Grand Traverse Resort by the Grand Traverse Band will happen. Terms have not been disclosed and the deal is expected to close at the end of March. Stories in the Enterprise, the Freep and Record-Eagle.
Basketball District Results
In Basketball District Tournament action Wednesday night, it was Suttons Bay over TC St. Francis in a tight game (55-52) and Glen Lake topping Mesick (62-51). The two meet in the Class C Final Friday at Glen Lake (7 PM). St. Marys put away Leelanau School (78-23) and Leland continued to roll with a convincing win over TC Christian (87-65). Leland & St. Marys play Friday at 7 in the Class D Final at Northport. The Leelanau Sports Page has more!
Budget Cuts Unveiled [03.07.03]
The Detroit Free Press reports on Gov. Granholm's budget and what it cuts to address the projected $1.9 billion deficit. Notable are a 50% cut to arts funding, a 6 1/2% drop in university funding and a 4% hike in diesel fuel taxes. Story in the Freep.
Weekend Sports Roundup [03.10.03]
The #1 ranked Leland Lady Comets fell to #2 Pellston in the Regional final 17-15, 9-15, 13-15. Congratulations on a great year! In Class C basketball, Suttons Bay defeated Glen Lake 48-36. The Norseman meet McBain on Tuesday night at TC West. In Class D, Leland won its second straight district title with a 69-53 victory over St. Marys. The Comets will face Hale in the Regional at Petoskey on Tuesday at 6 PM.

Regional Basketball Results [03.12.03]
Leelanau teams split last night's regional openers. Suttons Bay fell to a tough McBain squad 59-43 in Class C. In Class D, Leland defeated Hale 66-56.
