County basketball teams begin districts next week & volleyball teams this weekend and you can check the Leelanau Sports Page for complete schedules and our Sports Guy's picks. I'd have to agree with all of them but the obviously partisan Class D basketball pick. Update: Leland's volleball team was the only one to advance to regionals.
Lakeshore to Spray for Gypsy Moths [03.05.04]
The Leelanau Enterprise reports that the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore will be spraying in May or June to try and control the gypsy moth population in the park. There will also be a county spraying program. Read the story.
Suttons Bay (International) Film Festival [03.08.04]
Students in grades K-12 are invited to participate in the first annual Suttons Bay (international) Film Festival to be held in Suttons Bay, Michigan. The goal of the festival is to showcase the talent of students and to give them a chance to see their projects on the 'big screen' and in front of an audience. Video creations are currently being accepted and must be postmarked by April 10 and the film festival will be at the Suttons Bay High School on May 15. Learn more!
District Basketball Results [03.09.04]
In boys district hoops action last night, Glen Lake fell to Mesick 71-56 and Kingsley toppled Suttons Bay 81-58. Leland beat St. Mary's 57-39 in a game much closer than the final score.
St. Pat's Dinner & Auction [03.10.04]
The Leland Community United Methodist Church holds their annual St. Pat's Dinner & Auction this Sunday (Mar 14) from 11:30 - 3 PM at Leland Public School.
