$1 Million Donation to NMC [02.19.04]
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that Rotary Charities has donated $1 million to Northerwestern Michigan College's new Great Lakes Campus. Among other things, the grant will create the Alliance for Great Lakes Stewardship, which will seek to coordinate the activities of area nonprofits regarding the lakes. Read the story.

Sleeping Bear Dunes Showshoeing [02.23.04]
The Traverse City Record-Eagle has a feature about the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore's ranger-led snowshoe hikes. There will be hikes next weekend as well and the conditions have been perfect for snowshoeing. Read the story.

Historical Find in Northport [02.24.04]
This week's Leelanau Enterprise has an interesting feature about a Northport elementary teacher and class finding a brass plate that was part of a serpentine musket made in the 1760s. The find raises interesting historical questions. Read the story.
