Leelanau Forum Draws Objections [02.03.05] This week's Leelanau Enterprise has an article (not posted online) regarding objections to content posted in our General Discussion forum. Leelanau Communications has responded to the issue and you can read our response in our Open Letter. Sugar Loaf Closing Date Passes [02.04.05] It's apparently our Leelanau Forum's week in the sun. The Leelanau Enterprise has an article about the closing date for the purchase of Sugar Loaf (Jan 30) that Kate Wickstrom had announced passing without result. Empire Winterfest [02.07.05] This Friday & Saturday (Feb 11 & 12) the annual Empire Winterfest will be held. DNA Analysis Provides Cougar Confirmation [02.07.05] The Traverse City Record-Eagle reported Saturday that the Michigan DNR confirmed this week that a hair sample turned in by a motorist who hit "a large cat" in Menominee County came from a cougar. The DNR continues to maintain that there isn't enough evidence to support a breeding population in the state. Read more on Cougar confirmation from the Record-Eagle. Leelanau Children's Center Winter Carnival [02.08.05] The Leelanau Children's Center Carnival will be held this Saturday (Feb 12) from 12-3 PM at Leland School. This annual event features kids carnival games, great raffle prizes, food & more. Proceeds benefit the Leelanau Children's Center. 8th Annual Starlight Night Dance [02.09.05] The annual fundraiser for Leland School & the Leland Education Foundation will be held next Friday (Feb 18) from 5:30 - 11 PM at the Leland Lodge. Featured are an amazing collection of trips, dinners, services and items for home & family in the silent & live auction, dancing & food.
