Old Timers Remember Growing Up in Suttons Bay [January 19, 2005]
Next Saturday (Jan 28) at 7:00 PM at the Suttons Bay Friendship Center, the Leelanau Historical Museum will present Growing Up In Suttons Bay starring Amy Hoyt Taylor, Rudy Olson and Helen Duester Wransky. There is no Admission Charge and you can call the Museum for more information at 256-7475.

Northport Chamber Woos Cruise Line [January 20, 2005]
The Leelanau Enterprise reports that the Nantucket Clipper, a 207-foot, 100-passenger vessel will be making stops in Northport five times next summer, one of six stops on the 8-day Lake Michigan shoreline cruise. Lakeshore Starts General Plan Process
The Leelanau Enterprise reports that the National Park Service will again seek to write a 20-year General Management Plan for the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore to replace the one written in 1978. A previous attempt was halted in 2002. The park service will release more information and meeting times and dates. Read Lakeshore plan to start anew.

Leo Creek Jam Band in Suttons Bay [January 24, 2005]
Next Friday (Feb 3) at 7:30 pm at the Suttons Bay School Auditorium the Friends of Fine Arts of Suttons Bay present the soulful rock and funky rhythms of the Leo Creek Jam Band and pure musical satisfaction. Musicians are Tim Sparling on piano, Jack Dryden on bass, Roger Tarczon on drums and Drew Abbot (of Bob Seger's Silver Bullet Band) on lead guitar. Leelanau Author is 2006 Newbery Medal Winner [January 25, 2005]
The 2006 Newbery Medal has been awarded to Criss Cross written by Leelanau County resident Lynne Rae Perkins. The medal is awarded annually to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.
