Ruling Could Open Keyholing on Lake Leelanau [January 5, 2006]
The Leelanau Enterprise reports that a ruling issued Dec. 28 by the Leland township Zoning Board of Appeals could allow construction of condominiums, apartments, or other multi-family housing on waterfront lots without any restrictions regarding the number, size or location of docks along the shoreline. Enterprise Writers Predict 2006 [January 6, 2006]
Leelanau Enterprise writers look at What may be in mix for '06. Predictions include continued controversy over the Northport sewer and the Lake Leelanau Narrows development and an attempt by real estate developers Brian Sculthorp and Ed Fleis to buy out of much of Kate Wickstrom's interest in Sugar Loaf Resort.
Bald Eagles to be Released [January 9, 2006]
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that this month Wings of Wonder, a non-profit raptor rehabilitation organization, will release three bald eagles. The immature eagles, two females and a male, have been returned to full health and likely will be released Jan 29 at Tippy Dam in Manistee County. Anatomy of a Murder at Old Town Playhouse [January 10, 2006]
The Traverse City Record-Eagle has a feature on the production of Robert Traver's classic Anatomy of a Murder that will open this Friday (Jan 13) at Old Town Playhouse in Traverse City. Traver was the pen name of UP lawyer and Michigan Supreme Court justice John D. Voelker, is set in Marquette and runs Thursdays through Saturdays Jan 13-28. Glass to Penn State, Penn State Likely Happy About That [January 11, 2006]
Penn State University has a news release about Leland Senior Alisha Glass who will be headed to PSU next year. With a portion of the season left, Alisha is the National and State High School record holder in season aces, career aces and career kills and is ranked 6th nationally on Prep Volleyball's "Senior Aces" list, Read Three To Join Penn State Women's Volleyball For 2006 Season.
