![]() ![]() Put on your weathered sweatshirt - you're on Long Lake Peninsula now.... This region is a former island and collection of hunting camps just southwest of the city of Traverse City. Barefoot & Sandals is conveniently close to the Interlochen Arts Academy as well as to Traverse - 6 miles either way. Boone's Long Lake Inn, the destination steak house, is around the corner. This peninsula is unspoiled. Cottages here are passed down through the generations. The sunrises and sunsets, boats, barbecues, campfire pits, and languid days seem ageless. Nothing really changes very fast here, except the seasons. The moment you cross the Narrows, the rustic log character of this private peninsula will take your breath away. The convenient keypad lock systems are reset to new combinations between guest visits - so you can arrive whenever you wish and feel secure. There are some things city dwellers find puzzling about the North Woods. For one, homes have "wells" rather than city water. My well has been inspected by the Michigan State University Agricultural Office and the drinking water is rated safe; it passed on all three measures. Resort waterfront owners commonly have this type of water. I provide you the choice of bottled water or well water. ![]() ![]() ![]() All decks are spacious. Your large king-size bedroom looks over the treetops and adjoins the balcony for evening stargazing; the faux-fireplace with oak surround is electric. A spacious new bath adjoins an enormous walk-in closet / second bedroom combination and a daybed with pull out trundle will sleep two additional people. There is air conditioning but you will probably not use it - evenings tend toward the cool side. Down your open staircase is a sunny living room. Part of this space accommodates a delightfully stylish kitchenette/cocktail bar with a stainless steel island, microwave oven, gas range, and stainless steel refrigerator. An oversize gas grill is on your front deck. On cooler nights, the gas fireplace may be enjoyed. ![]() A sheltered gazebo room is off the living room. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Barefoot features a cottage-style wood-planked queen-size bedroom adjoining a new 3-piece ceramic bath, complete island kitchen with full-sized refrigerator and granite-look double sink, built-in oven and microwave. A Romeo-and-Juliette balcony faces your private back yard. A huge front deck provides plenty of seating and has a charcoal barbecue/fireplace; the charming sitting room features vaulted ceilings and a library nook. A new washer and dryer are in the basement. There is an air conditioner. RATES FOR EACH Sandals: $850 weekly. Barefoot: $ 700 weekly. No smoking please. Small breeds of dogs may be welcome with advance permission.
