User Fees

National Lakeshore User Fees In 1998 the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore began collecting user fees. The fee collection hasn't generated much more than a few grumbles from local residents.

Fee Schedule ENTRANCE FEES/PASSES (All passes are non-transferable)

Park Entrance Pass — $10.00 per private vehicle
Valid for 7 days from date of issue.
For entry into all areas of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

Annual Park Entrance Pass — $20.00
Valid for 12 months from month of issue.
For entry into all areas of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
When purchased at an Automated Pay Station, please exchange the receipt for the Annual Park Pass card at any staffed fee collection station.

Per Person Fee — $5.00 per person
Valid for 7 days from date of issue.
For individuals 16 years of age or older who enter the park by foot, bicycle, motorcycle (per rider), or as part of an organized group (each member) not involved in a commercial tour.

COMMERCIAL TOUR VECHICLES
Sedan (1-6 passengers): $25.00 + $5 per person
Van (7-15 passengers): $40.00
Mini-bus (16-25 passengers): $40.00
Motorcoach (26+ passengers): $100.00

(GOLDEN ACCESS & GOLDEN AGE Camping Fees are half-price)

All passes are to be displayed on the dashboard of your vehicle while in the park. If your pass is not on the dashboard you may receive a "Fee Reminder" slip on your windshield. THIS IS NOT A TICKET! It is merely a gentle reminder to please display your pass properly. If you have not yet purchased a pass, please bring the slip into the fee station with you. We keep them for statistical purposes.

D.H. DAY CAMPGROUND; (Open 4/3/2009 - 11/29/2009)
Campsites for 1-6 persons:  88 Total Sites, 0 Reservable.
Fee/night $12.00.

D. H. Day Group Campground (Open All Year)
Group Campsites (tents only) for 7-25 persons:  4 Total Sites, 4 Reservable.
Fee/night = $30.00 with no reservation or $33.00 when reserved.
Reservations required 5/22/2009 to 10/1/2009.

Platte River Campground (Open All Year)
Campsites with electrical hook-up for 1-6 persons:  96 Total Sites, 27 Reservable.
Fee/night = $21.00 with no reservation or $24.00 when reserved.
Campsites are reservable 5/22/2009 to 9/7/2009.

Campsites with no electrical hook-up for 1-6 persons:  53 Total Sites, 10 Reservable.
Fee/night = $16.00 with no reservation or $19.00 when reserved.
Campsites are reservable 5/22/2009 to 9/7/2009.

Walk-in Sites for 1-6 persons:  25 Total Sites, 6 Reservable
Fee/night = $12.00 with no reservation or $15.00 when reserved.
Campsites are reservable 5/22/2009 to 9/7/2009.

Platte River Group Campsites (hike-in, tents only) for 7-25 persons:  5 Total Sites, 5 Reservable.
Fee/night = $40.00 with no reservation or $43.00 when reserved.
Reservations Required 5/01/2009 to 10/1/2009.
Shower Tokens:  Two 3-minute Tokens for $1.00.

Backcountry Sites (Open All Year)
White Pine Campground:  6 Sites Total, 0 Reservable.  $5.00/night
Valley View Campground:  5 Sites Total, 0 Reservable.  $5.00/night

South Manitou Island (Via Passenger Ferry or Private Boat)
Bay Campground for 1-4 persons:  25 Total Sites, 0 Reservable.  $5.00/night
Bay Group Sites for 7-20 persons:  3 Total Sites, 3 Reservable.  Fee/night = $20.00 with no reservation and $23.00 when reserved.
Reservations Required for Group Sites 5/22/2009 to 9/26/2009.

Weather Station Campground for 1-4 persons:  20 Total Sites, 0 Reservable $5.00/night
Weather Station Group Campground for 7-20 persons:  3 Total Sites, 3 Reservable.  Fee/night = $20.00 with no reservations and $23.00 when reserved.
Reservations Required for Group Sites 5/22/2009 to 9/26/2009.

Popple Campground for 1-4 persons:  7 Total Sites, 0 Reservable.  $5.00/night.

North Manitou Island (Via Passenger Ferry or Private Boat)

Village Campground Campsites for 1-4 persons:  8 Total Sites, 0 Reservable.  $5.00/night.

Backcountry Camping for 1-4 persons:  Unlimited Sites.  $5.00/night.

Group Camping for 10 persons maximum:  Unlimited Sites.  $10.00/night.
