New Chamber Director Sally Guzowski says:

The Leelanau Showcase . . . a Business Expo was a huge success! The Leelanau Peninsula Chamber of Commerce would like to thank everyone who participated, attended and contributed this fantastic event. The Chamber estimates that over 1800 people came through the doors to view the top notch exhibitions, taste the exquisitely prepared food, to hear the music of talented local musicians, to experience the traditions of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, and to network with community leaders and members from all of Leelanau County.

Special thanks to all of the vendors who went all out to showcase their goods and services. Thanks to our sponsors who include Grand Traverse Resort and Casinos, TV 7 & 4, the Leelanau Enterprise, WCMU, ESPN Radio, Dan A. Penning from Wright, Penning & Beamer, the Business Helper, Oldies 107.5 WCCW, Northern Lumber and Camelot Construction. Thanks to the Suttons Bay - Leelanau Rotary Club and the Share Care group for providing such delightful volunteers. Thanks to the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians for bringing in some of their high school athletes to help with all things heavy! And speaking of the Band . . .

We would like to thank them for the contribution of the Strongheart Center and the Leelanau Sands Casino Showroom for the expo and the Community breakfast. The breakfast was also a great success. The room was full with area leaders, business people and community members who heard the latest and greatest from the local chambers, from the vintners association and the cherry industry. Thanks to Sandy Lindley for graciously serving as emcee. Her humor and enthusiasm are appreciated. She and Ray Pleva can "cut a mean rug". Our breakfast sponsors were MI Works, Peninsula Title Services, Bahle's of Suttons Bay, CenturyTel, WTCM, The Larkin Agency Northwestern Bank and the Leelanau Sands Casino. And . . .

Heartfelt thanks to the Expo planning committee including Dennis Grant (Camelot Construction), Theresa Forrest (Northwestern Bank), Joe Bottenhorn and Michelle Socha (Michigan Works), and Karyann Waukazoo. VERY SPECIAL thanks to Jackie and Bill Morrison of the Business Helper who served as Co-Chairs of the event. This event would not have happened without them. And thanks to the employees of the Business Helper who not only did a lot of work for the expo but helped support Jackie and Bill as well.
