The Birmingham Patch reports that in this weekend's Uptown Film Festival held Saturday night in partnership with the Detroit Independent Film Festival the short film Sleeping Bear picked up three Michigan Film awards including Best Experimental Film, Best Editing for director Jack Cronin and Best Michigan Short Film.
Filmmaker Jack Cronin's website says that Sleeping Bear was filmed at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore over the course of three years. It loosely follows the cycle of seasons, and is a study of the landscape and an attempt to represent the unique character of the region. You can view the entire film below - enjoy!
Our apologies as yesterday we followed the links from an article to the wrong Sleeping Bear film. Please click to yesterday's article to see the short film that won the Michigan Film awards!
Uninspired, 20 something construction worker, Michael Bradley Jr., finds himself caught in a love triangle between his only friend and a pastor’s daughter after accepting her offer to escape Detroit and take a trip to their cottage in breathtaking Northern Michigan...
The Sleeping Bear is a low budget indie movie being funded outside any major studios, by RCW Pictures, and by the generosity of contributors who believe in the script, the filmmakers, and the actors involved. Almost the entire cast and crew of The Sleeping Bear met in film school or shortly thereafter, as interns and assistants in Los Angeles, New York, or Michigan.
