Leelanau Almanac for the Week of August 23-29, 2007

A Crescent Cast by Chris Arace

Photo: A Crescent Cast by Chris Arace. Chris writes: Ruins of the Crescent dock on N. Manitou Island. This dock was for the old logging town of Crescent. In the Early 1900's it stretched 600 feet into Lake Michigan. We have a post about the ghost town of Crescent City on North Manitou Island (with another photo from Chris!)
The Leelanau Almanac took the week off, but we did have a nice photo interlude courtesy of our Leelanau(dot)com photo group on Flickr:

Here's a photo of a hillside orchard near Northport from October 2005. Jeff has a whole lot more photos of the Leelanau Peninsula that are probably best viewed as a slideshow!

Leelanau.com Category Pages

South Manitou Light by Greg JollifeI hope that anyone who has been following Leelanau.com for a while has seen that we've really been picking up the level of stories and presentation over the last couple of years.

It may have been hard for the casual visitor to see just how much information is contained here and to easily access it. To make that easier, we've rolled out our new category pages, featuring expanded listings for our web site sponsors and a constantly updated list of articles and news for that category. Check them out!
