This background is a series of three pictures of a freighter passing North Manitou Island taken on October 26, 2003. One of the peculiarities of digital cameras is that if there's a lot going on (say, thousands of waves), the image will get overloaded and break up in those high energy areas. To counter that (and have a little fun), we Photoshopped the images progressively as we zoomed in. We also have an unmodified picture for you photo purists!

Here's a beautiful photo of an iris in the rain taken in 2002 (spring of 2003 hasn't been very photogenic so far!).
