| Welcome to the home page for Leelanau 2000. We are a voluntary group educators, students, business and non-profit representatives and other Leelanau County residents who believe that the upcoming turn of the decade, century and millennium offers a unique opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of all who share a deep appreciation and commitment to the Leelanau Peninsula, its people past and present, and its future. Towards that end we have organized under the auspices of the Leelanau Historical Museum to facilitate a series of educational and celebratory activities which help fulfill the formal mission of Leelanau 2000.
The Leelanau 2000 Project Steering Committee will endevour to promote projects which relate to our stated mission and to act as a networking resource for related projects. We want to know what you or your organization are doing to commemorate the millenium! Please take a moment to fill out our Project Outline. In the months and (relatively few) years before the dawning of the new millenium, this web site will feature information on upcoming projects and reports from events in the schools and community.
